One of the things I always enjoyed whenever we were staying at Imperial Beach was walking along the shoreline, early in the morning. Sometimes the fog had rolled in and was so thick... it was hard to see anything.I could hear the muffled sounds of the waves lapping against the shore... I could sense other people walking nearby... overhead the birds were swooping and calling, but I couldn't see them... the sand was so cool beneath my feet... the air, wet against my skin. I liked that closed-in quiet feeling. It was soothing and private.
But after HE and I knew each other, those morning walks along the shore only made me more aware of what my life had become. And I felt alone... in a bubble... isolated... cut off... just me and my terrible secrets in a place that was no longer so beautiful to me.
