I could hear the muffled sounds of the waves lapping against the shore... I could sense other people walking nearby... overhead the birds were swooping and calling, but I couldn't see them... the sand was so cool beneath my feet... the air, wet against my skin. I liked that closed-in quiet feeling. It was soothing and private.
But after HE and I knew each other, those morning walks along the shore only made me more aware of what my life had become. And I felt alone... in a bubble... isolated... cut off... just me and my terrible secrets in a place that was no longer so beautiful to me.
